How do I place an order?
The simplest way to place an order is to use our online ordering system which you can find here. Alternatively, please email us on firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have a particular query please call us on 01223 518140 (extension 137) and we’ll do our best to help.
What are your delivery times?
Our standard delivery times are between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. When you place your order let us know when you need the order to be delivered and we will schedule our deliveries according to your requirements.
How much notice do you need for my order?
The more notice you are able to give the better. If you don’t know the exact numbers, please give us an estimate and finalise exact numbers no later than 48 hrs before the delivery day. If you have a last minute buffet order, phone us on 01223 518140 (extension 137) and we will do our best to fit you around our existing schedule.
How do I pay for my order?
We ask for payment before delivery via PayPal payment link (all major debit and credit cards). We are happy to consider offering account terms for large, regular customers. We accept cheques made payable to ‘Wintercomfort for the Homeless’ or BACS transfers (details on the invoice).
What quantity should I order?
We try to make sure there is always plenty of food for everyone and most customers find that one serving per head provides more than enough food for the number of people attending. If you are ordering a large buffet for 50 people or more, you may want to slightly reduce the number of portions to avoid wasted food.
What food is provided in your buffet lunches?
The Working lunch buffet includes 1.5 rounds of sandwiches and 1 mini wrap per person, crisps and portion of cake or fruit.
The gourmet buffet lunch includes 1 round of sandwich and 1 mini wrap in addition to a selection of the following: Cornish pasty, chicken goujon or mozzarella sticks, spicy meatballs, mini bruchetta, crudities and houmous and a portion of cake or fruit.
Can Food4Food cope with special diets or food allergies?
Some people are allergic to common food ingredients or need to avoid particular foods for religious or other reasons. If you have any specific requirements please let us know when you place the order and we will do our very best to assist. We’re passionate about food, our meals are made with high quality ingredients and we do our best to cater for people with food allergies. However, we cannot guarantee an environment completely free from allergens so traces of some ingredients may still be present in our meals, in particular nuts.
I need to change my order. What should I do?
Please give us as much notice as possible by emailing email@example.com, or if it is urgent please phone us on 01223 518140 (extension 137). We will always try our best to help you.
Can you deliver at Weekends?
We prepare all our lunches first thing on the morning of delivery. Our standard working days are Monday to Friday, but if you have a large weekend order it is sometimes possible to accommodate you. We can deliver food for a Saturday event on the Friday afternoon if suitable refrigeration can be arranged. Or you can also arrange to collect the buffet on a Saturday morning from our kitchens in central Cambridge. Can I order something not on your menu?
If you’d like to order items not on our menu please do ask. We can often come up with a tailored menu specially for you. We once produced a menu for a vegan wedding buffet. We can also create a special cake for any occasion. Please email us with your specific requirements and we will provide a tailored quote.
Who prepares the food for Food4Food?
Food4food buffets are prepared in our kitchens by our own qualified chef and his team. We produce almost all our menu items, including cakes and quiches, by hand from simple ingredients specially for your order. We never use food additives.
How long can food be left out after delivery?
Our cold buffets should be eaten as soon as possible, and always within 4 hours of leaving our fridges. We label our food with the time it left our fridges and any food uneaten after that time should be discarded.
Hot buffet food should be eaten within a maximum of 2 hours. We label hot food with the time it left the oven.
Can I pay extra for someone to serve the food?
We no longer offer waiter service, but we recommend a social enterprise called Turtle Dove who are able to staff events and also provide Vintage China. There website is http://www.turtledovecambridge.com/
What is your food hygiene rating?
Food4food has been awarded the very highest food hygiene rating by the Food Standards Agency. This is level 5: Very Good. You can check our Food4Food rating at the Food Standards Agency Website here.
Can we donate any unused buffet food to charity?
Unfortunately we usually cannot accept unused buffet food as a donation because if food has been left unrefrigerated for 4 hours or more it is no longer fit for consumption. We occasionally accept cakes which do not need to be refrigerated, but these must have been stored appropriately, for example away from bright sunlight.
The Wintercomfort day service closes at 2pm and we are unable to make use of donated food that arrives after this time and must be eaten on the day.
Our Terms and Conditions
We have the right to not accept an order that has been placed if we do not have the capacity to fulfil it. We will let you know as soon as possible if this is the case.
We understand that things don’t always go as planned. If you need to cancel a buffet order, please let us know as soon as possible so that we don’t waste any food. Cancellation conditions are set out below:
– If cancelled more than one week before buffet is due to be delivered – no charge will be levied.
– If cancelled less than one week but more than two days before the buffet is due to be delivered then a 25% charge will be made.
– If cancelled less than two days, but more than 24 hours before the buffet is due to be delivered then a 50% charge will be made.
– If cancelled less than 24 hours before the buffet is due to be delivered the full amount will be charged.
